SPOTLIGHT - The Parisian Supremacy (1)

Paris is unanimously accepted to be the fashion capital of the world. The reasons are quite obvious: the rich style heritage, the refined taste of its inhabitants, the grandeur of the Parisian Fashion Week. But perhaps the most important reason of all is offered by the significance of fashion in Parisian culture. The French capital treasures this form of art like no other city in the world and the fact that fashion literally floats in the air would be no exaggeration.

These days the spotlight falls on this magical place once again, as Paris is hosting the Fall-Winter 14/15 Haute Couture Fashion Week. The designs presented constitute the conclusive expression of fashion as a form of art and they are best defined by the notions of extravagance and impressiveness. Here is a personal selection of some remarkable creations:

Atelier Versace. Somewhat uncharacteristic for Donatella Versace's style philosophy, this collection stands out, paradoxically, thanks to the revealment of less skin, creating nonetheless an even sexier appearance. Still, geometry and glamour lay the basis of the designs.

Giambattista Valli. An ode to the feminine silhouette, the Italian/French designer's collection reached an incredibly high level of chic. The dashing headscarves that accompanied both elegant draped dresses and luxurious fur coats is another proof of the fact that he masters the art of sumptuousness.

Valentino. If the Italian brand's creations were to be transformed into literary works, they would most definitely belong to the romantic movement. Inspired by a predominantly neutral color palette, the collection gathers vaporous pieces with nature-based motifs. The fairytale has been rewritten.
